I try to buy a digital SLR camera for my wife for Christmas and are down to a model of the Sony Alpha 700 or the Canon 40D. From what I read online that I found 5 days good side of Sony, compared with only 2 positive for Canon.

Canon good point: (1) for high speed continuous 6.5 frames per second, compared to 5 frames per second (has 2 from Sony), Canon "Live View" photographers can take their pictures on the Sony LCD screen does not allow .

Prices subject at hand, would someone with knowledge of alpha700 Sony or Canon 40D, please feedback.
